An antique Spanish style secretaire desk, a match to one found in the collection at The Hemingway House in Key West, FL, USA; unbranded. Solid walnut with iron hardware. Upper is the drop down desk surface door with decorative iron hinges, slide bolts and working hinge lock, which reveals a large solid desk surface, open center cubby flanked by dual one-door storage areas and nine various size dovetail constructed drawers above. Dual heavy iron handles adorn the sides of the upper cabinet. Lower is decoratively carved, has a beveled edge to the top, one large drawer of dovetail construction, and lower cabinet with dual doors revealing a storage area. Includes one key that works the upper lock. No working key present for lock on lower doors. Two piece construction. Likely made in Spain, in the 19th Century.
