A Chippendale style licensed reproduction by Maddox Furniture of an 18th Century Secretary Desk created by Goddard Townsend of Newport, Rhode Island. Solid cherry with brass hardware, pediment top with three finials and ogee bracket feet. Upper blind bookcase has three doors, one being bi-fold, that reveal three separate compartments with two adjustable wood shelves in each, two pull out candle slides at bottom and handles on both sides. Lower desk is block front with four locking drawers of dovetail construction, pull out desk top supports and handles on both sides. Slant front lockable drop down desk surface reveals twelve drawers, four open cubbies, a compartment with carved wood door, and two secret pull out panels behind small columns on either side of the door. Two piece construction. Includes one key. Made in Jamestown, New York, USA, in the late 20th Century.
