A Regency style writing desk / game table by Maitland Smith. Mahogany with banded drawer fronts, tooled & embossed leather top, reversible & removable top center section, slide-out side trays that extend leather desk top surface, brass hardware & ornamentation, tapered straight legs, and spade feet. Features reverse image sides (looks the same front or back), a center section slide-out reversible & removable top with one side being leather & reverse side being a chess/checkers board, two small drawers for game pieces or desk essentials on either side, two small faux drawer fronts, and two center faux drawer fronts that are actually an interior backgammon board with game piece storage areas at sides. Hand made in the Philippines, in the late 20th Century.
